Computational Fabrication (Przemyslaw Musialski)

The computational fabrication group performs fundamental research at the intersection of applied mathematics and computer graphics. We investigate problems in geometry processing, geometric modeling, shape analysis, physically based modeling, and physical simulation with the goal to develop novel algorithmic solutions for the currently rapidly growing domain of digital fabrication.

Our work encompasses computational processing of geometry, development of efficient algorithms for structural optimization, computational shape analysis and synthesis, and last but not least interaction with the user. Our research aims to provide solutions for the generation of geometric models suitable for digital manufacturing. The goal is to help humans, in particular designers, specialists and enthusiasts, but also unexperienced users, create products in an intuitive and an automated manner such that they can be easily fabricated with digital manufacturing devices.
