Higher Order Paneling of Architectural Freeform Surfaces – Post Doc Position

Objectives

Within the many aspects of realizing and constructing buildings, our focus is on the algorithmic approach of paneling. It is our goal to advance our knowledge on underlying discrete structures and properties of a segmentation into panels for the design of efficient paneling algorithms. This includes the study of spherical and developable panels as well as the study of Weingarten surfaces and their applicability to the paneling problem.

Specific Requirements

PhD in Mathematics with good programming skills (C/C++, Python); strong background in differential geometry; working knowledge of numerical optimization.
