The Center for Geometry and Computational Design is happy to announce to run the Doctoral College “Computational Design”.
The Doctoral College Computational Design (DC:{CD}) at the TU Wien, embedded in the Center for Geometry and Computational Design, is the first PhD program in Austria that is situated at the interface of several areas of excellence in research: Computer Graphics and Algorithms, Software Technology and Interactive Systems, Computer Aided Automation, Discrete Mathematics and Geometry, Architectural Sciences, Art and Design, History of Art, Building Archaeology and Restoration, Interdisciplinary Construction Process Management and Mechanics of Materials and Structures.
The starting date will be in January 2016.

Qualifications
The prerequisite for becoming a PhD student in the DC is a completed master degree or equivalent (e.g., Dipl.-Ing., Dipl.-Inf.), preferably with distinction, in the following fields:
• Architecture
• Civil engineering/structural engineering
• Computer science/informatics
• Mathematics
• Mechanical or industrial engineering
• Physics
Further fields of studies may be taken into account if the student has a similar qualification but from a distinct field, and is in general well-suited for the position in question. Typically, a Bachelor degree requires 180-240 ECTS credits and a Master’s degree additionally between 90-120 ECTS credits. Therefore, a Bachelor degree with a subsequent Master’s degree with a total of at least 300 ECTS credits will be considered as adequate in general.
Salary and Terms of Employment
• 25h/week employment as a PhD candidate for a period of 3 years
• gross salary is in the range of 1664.30 EUR per month (14x per year)
Selection Process
Selection is based on a multi-level, competitive examination of the applicants, which guarantees a high level of quality of the process. After a first screening of applications, we will conduct short Skype or phone interviews with those who meet the qualification requirements.
Applicants who pass the first stage of the interview process will be invited to an on-site interview at the TU Wien during the GCD symposium on November 30. Travel costs and symposium registration are covered.
