Talk by Milica Vujovic on Evidence-based Decision Support in Architectural Design
Time: Wednesday 6 April 2022, 11:00 am, online
The presentation focused on aspects of evidence-based design, as well as its application in different domains of architecture. Special focus was placed on the data acquisition phase in order to show what are the criteria for data selection and how to use them in further analysis, in accordance with research questions. One of the examples was the research work conducted in the field of educational spaces and the creation of a methodology that provides evidence to further support the design. Furthermore, the initial work in the field of environmental and behavioral data acquisition based on evidence-based design methods for research on public spaces were presented as a second example. In the context of two examples, a multimodal analysis was addressed and the importance of multidisciplinary approach was described.
Milica Vujovic is assistant professor at TU Wien.
Her main interest is in architecture, data-informed design, and using, processing, analyzing and visualizing data with the aim of extracting new knowledge that can support architectural design. After obtaining master degrees in architecture and mechanical engineering, a PhD degree was obtained in the computer science field, focusing on multimodal data in smart learning spaces. Previous work was done mostly in the educational spaces design and public spaces design, where sensing technology and computational techniques were used. The main focus of current research is evidence-based decision support in architectural design. Milica Vujovic is participating in teaching and research activities at TU Wien.
